My parents are in the cruising gear aka their 80s and tell tales of castor oil, oral epsom salt pills et al. Seems my great grands (mothers mostly) were the true front line docs of the rurals. These books are revelatory. My brain feels like one of those old school popcorn poppers as the synapses start to heat up as I read.
